1974 Carrera RS 3.0
Engine built for a '74 Carrera RS
This beautiful RS came for an inspection. It's owner suspected it was leaking fuel...it was certainly leaking oil. He wanted it looked at and sorted.
It was determined that the engine was leaking fuel from several areas, notable the MFI pump, the camshaft housings and the gearbox. We elected to remove the engine/transaxle and sort these out as well as perform a maintenance, valve clearance adjustment, etc. When we got inside, we found that at some point in the car's life, it received poor quality workmanship. The chains were running cock-eyed, the sprockets were shedding steel and the head studs were loose...among other issues. We decided to strip the engine down and sort it all out.
